Justify

Pronunciation: /ˈdʒʌ.stəˌfaɪ/ Explain

In mathematics, one proves every claim. Each step in the proof must be justified by one or more axioms, definitions, or previously proved theorems. By requiring rigorous proofs, mathematicians are able to justify or refute many claims.
